
With prices of essential vegetables such as onions and tomatoes touching as high as Rs 90 and Rs 50 per kilo respectively, even whipping up a simple curry has become an expensive affair for locals over the last one month. There appears to be no respite for consumers as onion prices have soared from Rs 60 per kilo since the first week of October to Rs 90 per kilo on Thursday. Tomatoes too have seen a price rise from Rs 30 to Rs 50 per kilo in the same period.
